Favre Gets The Ocho Cinco Treatment (finally)

Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy announced today they would not grant Brett Favre an unconditional release.  Throughout this entire ordeal many have stood up for Favre saying how much he has done for the organization, and for them not to grant his wishes is, to some, heresy.  Yes, to question all that is Favre is to be a bad Packers fan, a bad person, possibly even a terrorist.

Yet when looked at objectively, he has ridiculed and destroyed this team in T.O.-esc fashion this offseason.  Through tears, having close friends go to the media (which I assure you was encouraged by him), and leading the front office on he has hurt a lot of people.  He cost the team a 2nd round pick (which they spent on Brian Brohm), he has cost Aaron Rodgers millions (salary incentives for starting), and he has cost the coaches their sanity.

But why? Why can he do this? Because he knows that the majority of people will still chuckle and say boys will be boys.  That is just Brett Favre being Brett Favre.  Yet many fail to see that Brett Favre is more or less an asshole.  The situation he has perpetuated over the last couple of seasons is eerily similar to those that Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson partook in.  Yet because he is not black Brett Favre, sports fans are quick to look the other way.
