Big D About to Get D-Hall? Raiders to Release CB DeAngelo Hall

Today, the Oakland Raiders are expected to release defensive back DeAngelo Hall (after giving the Atlanta Falcons a second round draft pick for him in the offseason). Al Davis supposedly asked the front office to come up with a list of names of players to cut. On that list? Javon Walker, Michael Huff, and Ronald Curry - all big name players that got lost in the jungle that is Oakland.

The Raiders never cease to amaze. A few analysts have even called the NFL a "31 team professional league.... and then the Raiders." Yes, there are teams with less wins than the Raiders, but none make players walk the plank at the rate the Raiders do.

Oakland needs stability in a long term Head Coach, draft picks, and a new owner. DeAngelo Hall, as much of a head case as he is, is not the cause of the Raiders' 2-6 start. They drafted a quarterback, 2 years ago, with the I.Q. of a watermelon and a running back, last year, in which they gave no offensive line. Their wide receivers are head-cases and Lane Kiffin doesn't have the balls to punch Al Davis in the face and tell him to get the hell out his way. The Raiders will never be good again until Al Davis is out.

D-Hall is probably the happiest person in the world to be on that list, and rightfully so, but this doesn't let Hall off the hook of being an underacheiver and a crybaby. He needs to revive his career. And where will he do it? Dallas.

The ACC is a MESS

If you don't already have a Sunday morning headache as you wake up for this exciting day of football ahead, take a look at the ACC standings and pick a winner. With 8 teams that still have a legitimate shot at the title, this conference's parity can suggest 1 of 2 things: the Atlantic Coast Conference sucks or is exceptionally good as a whole. And, considering the # of big out-of-conference victories stacked up for the ACC, I'm going to go with the former.

Clemson, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech have done nothing but dissapoint those who predicted their "elite" ACC status this preseason and schools like Virginia, Georgia Tech, and Maryland have hightened expectations. So, if you want to pick the ACC Champion, roll a die.... an 8-sided one.... like in dungeons and dragons. Don't lie! You have played it too!

ACC Basketball Fans, Get Excited

JJ Reddick used to be and very well still may be hated by every ACC school other than Duke. Tyler Hansbrough has modestly taken over those duties over the last few years. So, many would be happy to find out that Hansbrough has suffered a "stress reaction" in his right shin. A stress reaction is the precursor to a stress fracture. In order to heal, the injured person must relieve the stress by staying off the leg.

Now, no one is wishing harm upon anyone (well, maybe a little), but Ty Ty is kind of known as.... to put it nicely.... a "little bitch?" Hansbrough's father said he will be fine and just needs to rest the leg, but can't one hope that it becomes a nagging injury? The loss of Hansbrough would most certainly bring the pre-season No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels down to earth and put smiles on the faces of a few (every) ACC schools. If only he had the same doctor as Tom Brady....

Brad Johnson to Start for America's Team

T.O. won't be getting his preferred amount of touches for at least another week as Brad Johnson will make the start for the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday. As if having NFC's leading receiver Jason Witten at no better than questionable, a cry-baby wide-receiver, and a less-than-expected 5-3 record were not enough, the 'boys will be hurting like hell as they face the defending Champion New York Giants without Tony Romo.

Romo has a PINKIE injury. Kurt Warner has been playing with a broken thumb since middle school and Romo can't play without the smallest finger on his hand. Without Romo, Newman, and Witten (and Pacman!), the Cowboys don't stand a fighting chance against the G-Men this weekend.

Rams Want Better Refs. Well, Get in Line

The New England Patriots were assessed a goose egg of penalties on Sunday. As if they were the first to fall victim to bad calls (or non-calls), the St. Louis Rams sent tapes of alleged penalties on the Patriots in hopes that.... the NFL's offices would throw a flag? Change the stat sheet to show 30-60 yards of penalties on the Patriots?
Every referee reviews every play after every game. So.... Rams.... they already HAVE the tapes. They are already aware of the calls you thought they missed, because, well.... you complained about them during the game.

Reminds me of a time I asked a girl out. She said "no." But, I didn't think she heard me correctly, so, I asked again, highlighting certain portions of the "let's get drunk and go back to my house" proposal. I got a penalty.... in the nuts....

Rams' lineman Richie Incognito, whose team was penalized 12 times for 63 yards, claimed, "Never ever, ever, ever played a perfect team before. That's all I'm going to say on that one." Umm, Richie.... Was the pun intended?

Rams' coach Jim Haslett focused on a missed face-mask call, two missed late hit calls, and a punt spot that was supposedly 10 yards off.

Note: The referees DID call a penalty on the Patriots that the Rams declined (because 0 sounds better than 1).

Culpepper Seeking Job in Detroit

Daunte Culpepper, the newly unretired free agent, is trying out for the Detroit Lions Tuesday in hopes of landing a job. And, if he does make the team (which shouldn't be hard), he will be negotiating his own contract because he refuses to hire an agent.

Here's a riddle: Franchise after franchise turns you down, claiming that you've no longer got it. General Managers and Coaches refuse to pay you the money that you think you still deserve. You want to revive your career. Solution: try out for the worst team in the game.

Note: Trying to revive my career in women (and following Culpepper's example), I attended a weight watchers' meeting to land me a 300 pounder. More junk in the trunk, baby.

But, there's no junk in the trunk in Detroit. Their stars are.... Calvin Johnson. Next year is the year to be the quarterback of the Lions. They will have a new coach, a slew of draft picks, and a new quarterback. The operative word is "new." Whoever is the quarterback of the 1-15 Detroit Lions at the end of the season will most assuredly be ousted. So, Daunte's only chance at reviving his career this year is to win five games with the Lions. That's like hitting a home run with a Twizzler.

Pacman At It Again

Cowboys' cornerback Pacman Jones is proving why certain football players shouldn't be given a million chances.

According to the AP, Jones got into a fight with his bodyguard outside a fancy hotel late Tuesday night. No charges were filed. Jones was scheduled to meet with NFL Commissioner the following day.

Really Pacman, how retarded are you? This is simply mind-blowing, and I'm not talking about normal mind-blowing. This is cocaine powerful stuff here.

Jones has no respect for the law, himself, or others around him. He proved early in his career that he has no respect for women, first by making it "rain on dem hoes" in a strip club and then hitting the strippers to get his one-dollar bills back.

Pacman will end up out of the league, again, and working at the local grocery store.... unless wrestling takes him back.
